Taiwan Endemic Purple-Day Gray Butterfly Painted Open Ring

The Purple-Day Gray butterfly is an endemic subspecies of Taiwan, also known as the Red-bordered Yellow-small-gray butterfly due to the color of its wings. The underside of its wings is yellowish-brown, with orange wave-like markings along the edges. It is commonly found from plains to low-altitude mountainous areas. The larvae feed on Persicaria chinensis as their host plant, and adults can be seen year-round. They are fond of nectaring on wildflowers along roadsides and are quite numerous. The wings are brushed with silver powder, unfolding shimmering wings on your fingertip, they flutter and gleam with every movement.
