When the gold layer constitutes at least 1/20th of the material's total weight, it is called Gold Filled. 14/20K signifies that at least 1/20th of the product's total weight is 14k gold. Because Gold Filled pieces are crafted with a thick layer of gold, they rarely chip or peel even with prolonged use.
