Giant net-patterned line beads unearthed in Myanmar. Artifacts discovered in the ruins of ancient temples on the Thai-Burmese border. The net-patterned ancient line bead measures 10.58cm in length and is exceptionally large. These colossal beads were historically used as offering beads, rarely worn by ordinary people and primarily displayed on altars or in temples. This distinctive style of totem ancient bead is currently found only in Myanmar. As referenced on page 82 of the archaeological reference book "Ancient Beads and Jewellery of Myanmar," similar totem ancient beads are featured. These beads are generally over 2,000 years old. Due to the dry burial environment and millennia of temperature fluctuations, the beads exhibit severe "ice cracks" and fissures, leading to visible fragmentation. After excavation, local professional bead collectors meticulously repaired them with adhesive to prevent further breakage from exposure to environmental temperature changes and other stresses. Without these repairs, it is understood from colleagues in the West Asian bead trade that each bead could be valued at over 100,000 Thai Baht at Thai bead fairs. Stainless steel wire loops are attached to both ends, allowing for pairing with any necklace or bead chain. This type of giant bead is more suited for direct wear than horizontal placement. Paired with an 84cm bead chain, the ensemble includes tiger-striped barrel beads, a single-line Medicine Buddha bead, prayer beads, and various eyed ancient beads. Features include agate iridescence, ice cracks, fish scale patterns, skin fissures, shrunken leather patterns, orange peel texture, internal weathering, and grey calcification – all indicative of burial characteristics. These ancient beads originally held profound religious significance and served as protective amulets.
