It can resemble the color of a twilight sky, a sunflower, or even a fruity hue. While the stone itself may be the same color, it can exude a variety of personalities depending on its surroundings. This time, we're featuring a ring that combines citrine and brass. It's called version 2 because the ring's intricacy is slightly different from our regular "Tale of Ancient Stones." While we usually create rings with a rough, hammered finish, this piece features a more conventional hammered finish. (We can also add a rougher hammered finish like our previous Ancient Stone Tales series; please contact us if you would like this.) ~Natural Stone Description~ "Citrine" Deriving its name from its resemblance to the color of the citron fruit, citrine is divided into two types: amethyst heated underground or artificially, and smoky quartz. Most citrine on the market appears to be amethyst-based. Also known as a symbol of the sun, citrine is said to convey the importance of letting go rather than holding back. Brass A metal made from a mixture of copper and zinc, brass shines almost like gold when new. However, over time, it darkens due to a process called "sulfidation" caused by components in the air. This process transforms the piece into a subdued, antique-like appearance, making it a luxurious metal in a sense, allowing you to enjoy both its lustrous and subdued appearance. If you are concerned about brass darkening or tarnish, you can polish it back to its original shine with commercially available brass polishing agents. Darkening can also be prevented by storing it in a sulfidation-preventing bag or by storing it in a sealable bag with sulfidation-preventing chips. Because brass contains a high copper content, caution is advised for those with metal allergies. Brass is a beautiful metal with a unique character, and it changes color over time, making it an affordable metal that we hope everyone will enjoy.
