Japanese indigo (Persicaria tinctoria) is an annual herbaceous plant of the Polygonaceae family, primarily used for dyeing, from which indigo dyeing derives its name. Indigo dyeing is a form of plant dyeing. Through multiple immersions and many unpredictable factors, it yields fascinating color gradients and textures. This is the creativity of nature itself, and what makes indigo dyeing so captivating, always offering unexpected surprises. **> Plant Dyeing** Plant dyes are sourced from nature. Different plants yield different colors, lending fabrics pure, soft hues and a subtle herbaceous aroma. Upon the first wash, though there might be slight fading, it’s akin to colors softened by the passage of time, possessing a natural, tranquil, and lived-in essence. **> Care Instructions** 1. Traditional plant-dyed products have undergone water washing and color fixing treatment. Due to the nature of hand-dyeing, color variations and unevenness are inherent. Each product will have slight differences; please be aware of this! 2. Plant-dyed items are resistant to dirt and sweat. If stained, local cleaning is possible. They can also be washed in cold water, without soaking, and should not be wrung forcefully. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight; hang to dry in a cool, well-ventilated area. 3. You can wear them for daily use and light exercise without needing to remove them. However, as cotton fabric takes time to dry once wet, which could affect the item's lifespan, wearing them during showers is not recommended. **The purer the indigo dye, the more its color fastness may be compromised due to the absence of chemical fixatives. However, this is an indispensable aspect of its charm. The fading that occurs with use is beautifully termed 'falling color' (luò sè). Without this gradual fading, indigo dye would lose a distinctive part of its allure.**
