Pink opal is a silicate mineral with the chemical formula SiO2·nH2O. It is a silica gel containing water, with a water content generally ranging from 4% to 9%, and can reach up to 20%. It is an amorphous gemstone with a resinous luster, no cleavage, and a conchoidal fracture. Its refractive index is 1.45, its density is 2.15g/cm², and its Mohs hardness is 5-6.5. Both temperature and humidity can accelerate the decomposition or oxidation of organic gemstones. Due to the hardness and formation state of organic gemstones, please also avoid hot springs and hot water baths, as well as products containing cleaning agents. Opal is a delicate gemstone that actually requires a bit of moisture for its care. Therefore, desiccants are not included in the storage pouches. Like other gemstones, it should not be worn during bathing or when visiting hot springs. Do not use polishing cloths designed for silver to clean opals; simply use a clean, dry, or slightly damp cloth. We will provide a jewelry polishing cloth. After wearing, gently wipe the ring clean and store it in its gemstone pouch. For all natural gemstone and metal jewelry, it is not recommended to wear them while visiting hot springs or bathing. Chemicals can easily cause chemical reactions with the jewelry. Avoid direct contact with perfumes and bleach. Please also refrain from storing jewelry in bathrooms or kitchens, as this can accelerate product oxidation. For sterling silver or gold jewelry, when not in use, try to isolate it from moisture and air. Wipe it clean with a dry cloth or the provided polishing cloth, then store it in a PVC zipper bag. Each piece of jewelry should be stored separately to prevent scratches from collisions with other jewelry or hard objects.
