It was one of the Swiss brands that could not recover from the Quartz watch onslaught in the 70’s and finally ceased operations in 2000 when it was sold to Stelux Holdings. **About CAMY** Camy Watch was founded in Grenchen in 1913. Unfortunately, although the firm produced some good quality watches for over sixty years, very little is known about it. What we do have though, are many surviving Camy watches, with the more interesting models tending to date to the 1970s. **About 17 Jewels** The movement with grid pattern was "fabriqué en Suisse". Indeed, it belongs to a vintage Swiss made mechanical watch. If you pay enough attention to it, you can find “17 jewel Swiss” on its surface. From mid 19th century, neutral gems like quartz, sapphire, ruby or even diamond were used to reduce friction in watches. Making the watch more accurate and enhance the life of bearing, on the other hand to prolong the lifetime of a watch.
