Its colors are incredibly diverse, displaying different hues from various angles. Each piece of opal is unique, making it highly collectible. Opals come in various types, including black opal, white opal (common opal), fire opal, and boulder opal. Opals are composed of silica spheres, which are too small to be seen with the naked eye and require an electron microscope for observation. The color variations are caused by diffraction and interference – it's a bit complex, essentially light playing hide-and-seek with the spaces between these spherical structures! **Opal Care & Storage** If you have purchased a natural gemstone that is opal or pearl, please pay special attention to avoiding overly humid environments or extreme temperature fluctuations. Temperature and humidity can accelerate the decomposition or oxidation of organic gemstones. Due to their hardness and formation, please also avoid hot springs and bathing with cleaning products. Opal is a delicate gemstone that actually requires a bit of moisture for maintenance. Therefore, we do not include desiccant in the storage bag. Of course, like other gemstones, it should not be worn while bathing or in hot springs. Do not use a silver polishing cloth to clean opals; use a clean, dry, or slightly damp cloth. We will include a jewelry polishing cloth; gently wipe the ring clean after wearing and store it in the gemstone bag. For all natural gemstone and metal jewelry, we advise against wearing them in hot springs or while bathing, as chemicals can cause adverse reactions. Avoid direct contact with perfumes, bleach, and do not store jewelry in the bathroom or kitchen, as this can accelerate oxidation. When not wearing sterling silver or gold jewelry, try to isolate it from moisture and air. Clean with a dry cloth or the provided polishing cloth, then store in a PVC zip-lock bag. Each piece of jewelry should be stored separately to prevent scratches from collision with other jewelry or hard objects. The zip-lock bag already contains imported Japanese desiccant. **Natural Stone Inclusions** The natural stones used in the NOW design studio are collected from around the world, each one unique, with most items being one-of-a-kind. These are specially selected natural stones, and we showcase their colors at different angles or under various lighting conditions for our clients. Natural stones inevitably have internal impurities (inclusions).
