Vegetable tanning is the earliest tanning method, using tanning agents extracted from plants, such as tannic acid. This method involves repeatedly soaking the hide in tanning solutions of varying concentrations, a process that takes one to two months. Vegetable-tanned leather contains no harmful chemical components like heavy metals, making it safe for direct skin contact, while also preserving the leather's natural texture.
