When the weight of the gold layer constitutes at least 1/20th of the total weight of the material, it is called gold-filled. 14/20K signifies that at least 1/20th of the total product weight is 14K gold. Gold-filled items have a thick layer of gold, making them highly resistant to peeling even with prolonged use.
