For colored vegetable-tanned leather, we use non-polluting dyes, employing the most natural methods for coloring. While black may not show the same dramatic color change as natural, it will still develop a beautiful, lustrous patina with long-term use. The most common marks include insect bites, growth lines, brands, and scars (or holes). Scars/holes are typically avoided in the manufacturing process. Brands are sometimes incorporated into special designs depending on their size and shape. Natural cowhide exhibits wrinkles and growth lines due to different body parts. During the cow's growth, it may encounter friction with other cattle or insect bites.
