Over time and with wear, jewelry can oxidize, causing it to turn yellow or black. You can gently brush the surface with a damp, soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste or polishing powder, or use a silver polishing cloth or copper polishing cloth to restore its original metallic shine. 4. If the jewelry features a special oxidized finish, avoid excessive polishing, as this may diminish the intended design effect. 5. If you are concerned about potential skin irritation from the chemical agents in silver or copper polishing cloths, rinse the jewelry with clean water and dry it thoroughly before wearing. 6. Natural stones, crystals, and pearls can be cleaned with clean water and then wiped with a soft cloth. 7. Avoid storing different pieces of jewelry together in the same box, as their varying hardness can cause friction and wear. 9.
