Legend has it that Vikings used this ability to navigate their ships by holding iolite up to the sun and steering their ships in the direction where the blue color appeared most clearly. Iolite was believed to be a guiding stone, like a compass, in life. Brass A metal made from a mixture of copper and zinc, it shines almost like gold when new, but over time, due to the influence of atmospheric components, it darkens due to a process called "sulfidation." This sulfidation process transforms the piece into a more subdued, antique-like appearance, making it a luxurious metal that allows you to enjoy both the brilliance of shining brass and the calmness of brass. If you are concerned about darkening or dullness of brass, you can polish it back to its original shine with commercially available brass polishing agents. Darkening can also be prevented by storing it in a sulfidation-preventing bag or by storing it with sulfidation-preventing chips in an airtight bag. In the summer, sweat and moisture may cause blue marks or dark spots on your fingers, but please rest assured that washing the ring will not cause any adverse effects. This metal contains a high copper content, so those with metal allergies should exercise caution.
