(Citrine) Lips Cursed Sugar Skull Ring:
My passion of tattoo art and memento mori art is the motivation of making this sugar skull, a theme that I always want to study and explore. I was amazed by the fascinating cultural facts and philosophy behind Mexican the day of the dead, and it influenced me and gained interesting knowledge when I was designing this series. The Mexican motifs and decorations on the sugar skull is absolutely beautiful and unique, therefore I study the composition and imagery of sugar skull to design my own version of it. In order to create devilclaw-like sugar skull which is using my own imagery and texture to express my twisted feelings. The skull has a nice grin on its face, but I also added tear drops on its face. It looks like a happy sugar skull from a long distance, but I want the viewers discover something surprise when they take a closer look. This design has two version of texture and imagery as my technical and artistic challenges. At the end I added a hidden message “Don't Leave” under their jaw to give them emotions and identity.
