We are a furniture and space creator based in Hida City, Gifu Prefecture. We create unique yet simple products by combining traditional craftsmanship with digital technology (such as 3D cutting CNC).
Hida City, with over 90% of its land area covered by forests, is one of Japan's leading producers of furniture and wooden buildings. However, most of its timber is imported, making little use of local forest resources.
"The species is not consistent," "the diameter is small," "there is little straight lumber," and other reasons why Hida's hardwoods are difficult to use in mass production. We want to find more value in these hardwoods through the power of creativity and technology. And we want to improve abandoned forests. Trees are living things just like us, so shouldn't we respect them more? With this in mind, we are using the wide variety of Hida's tree species to pursue products that allow you to feel the energy and beauty of the forest.
The local sawmill, forestry association, and city forestry department cooperated to use wood that was specially distributed and dried to a moisture content of 10% or less, and the finishing paint is safe and natural, complying with the Food Sanitation Standards Act. It is designed to "return to the soil properly in the end."
