Nanbu iron kettles were first produced in the mid 17th century.
When a lord of the Nanbu Clan invited a master artisan from Kyoto to Morioka, and requested that he make kettles for tea.
Blessed with high quality raw materials, and the clan’s fostering hand, the craft has since continued to develop with the help of metalworkiers and artisans from throughout the country,and has come to be popular not only domestically,but throughout the world.
