(From "The Pillow Book") -- This necklace uses lampwork beads (glass beads) called "Hotarudama." Hotaru-dama are glass beads that are individually handcrafted by glass artisans. By placing silver foil and shades of blue glass on top of black glass and creating a pattern, a unique and mysterious atmosphere is created, with the blue shining against the black background. If you like blue, you will be captivated by its beauty. In addition, this time we have chosen glow-in-the-dark fireflies. If you expose it to light and then look at it in a dark place... it will glow blue-green. The beads do not shine all over, but rather in spots, and the intensity of the light each one emits varies slightly, giving it a romantic look, like the light of a firefly. To highlight the beautiful firefly beads, the chain is simply strung with small round beads (about 2mm). They are arranged in two rows to match the volume of the 12mm to 8mm size firefly beads. We use black seed beads to match the black background color of the firefly beads. Among these, a type of fabric called three-cut, which has random cuts, is interspersed here and there. The cut surface subtly reflects light and sparkles like twinkling stars. The area near the clasp on the back is solid black, while the area near the firefly on the front is a mix of dark blue, further enhancing the overall atmosphere. I chose a black clasp so that the metal parts would not stand out. ◇ ◇ ◇ The firefly balls are handmade. Each one has a different color and the amount of phosphorescent material used.
