The Purple-day Gray Butterfly (Rubrapunctatus), a subspecies endemic to Taiwan, is also known as the Red-bordered Yellow-tip, owing to the coloration of its wings. The underside of its wings is yellowish-brown, with orange wavy markings along the edges. It is commonly found from plains to low-altitude mountainous areas. The larvae feed on Persicaria chinensis, and adults can be seen year-round. They are often observed feeding on nectar from wildflowers by the roadside, and are quite numerous. The wings are brushed with silver powder, causing them to shimmer beautifully in your hair.
