Seeing two female students running and laughing so happily, I thought, “I have to live here!” And since I happened to be moving out of the dorm after graduation and needed to find a place, I actually ended up moving there. It became a habit to go out and wander the beach at any time—morning, day, evening, or dawn. While wandering the sea, I often just gazed out at the ocean, but I also picked up a lot of sea glass washed up on the shore. Seaglass is formed when pieces of glass discarded in the sea are worn down by waves over a long time, until all sharp edges disappear. It is said to symbolize endurance and hope through suffering. I loved both its meaning and its beautiful shape, so I filled jars with seaglass and gave them as gifts to cherished people.
