Jabuticaba (Plinia cauliflora) is a tropical and subtropical fruit, also known as the Brazilian grapetree. It is highly resistant to pests and adapts well to various environments. The mature fruit has a purple skin, with sweet-tasting flesh and slightly tart skin, often consumed whole, including the seeds. It is rich in Vitamin C and essential minerals such as phosphorus and magnesium. This specimen features a natural clustered, wind-swept style and is approximately 17 years old. The bark has shed, leaving the trunk smooth. Cultivated in a small pot for many years, the new branches are very fine, requiring a longer period for thickening. Rarely used in bonsai art, this specimen boasts a robust root base. Over the past few years, it has been regularly pruned to refine its form. Fruit-bearing occurs with half-day sun, making this a favored fruit tree for designers. The thickest part of the trunk is nearly 4 cm, with a root base span of 11 cm. The basic structure of the tree was established in 2024, and after being allowed to grow naturally for over a year, the shape has become more complete. It has been recently shaped with aluminum wire to further refine and articulate its lines. Future care only requires regular watering, fertilizing, and pruning of stagnant branches.
