Therefore, __regularly cleansing your crystals is important__. It is recommended to establish a routine for cleansing your crystals, perhaps on the first of each month or during the full moon (the 15th of the lunar calendar). There are many methods for cleansing crystals, with detailed explanations available in books and online. While soaking in saltwater is a commonly mentioned method, some crystals and metals are delicate and can be damaged by salt or water. For this reason, Joyce personally does not recommend soaking in saltwater. If you have clear or amethyst chips, a geode, or a cluster, you can place your pendulum within or on top of them when not in use. Of course, the chips, geodes, and clusters used for cleansing should also be cleansed regularly. For instance, they can be placed in sunlight for solar cleansing or under moonlight for lunar cleansing. Joyce finds __smudging to be the most effective method__! You can light palo santo, dried cedar leaves, dried sage leaves, or incense, and **use the smoke for purification**.
