The Old Goat Special Calligraphy Titanium Tip (ground and adjusted from an EF nib) is a custom nib specially requested from the German manufacturer, model #250 (#6). It is then handcrafted and adjusted by Old Goat artisans to create calligraphy lines with varying thickness, achieving a unique brushstroke effect. Compared to the standard version, this special nib offers even greater flexibility, allowing for richer stroke variations. The nib is engraved with the 3952 Jade Mountain distinctive logo, making it a treasured collectible. Hand-Adjusted Calligraphy Nibs: 1. For calligraphy nibs, it is generally recommended to first dip the nib in ink and allow it to break in for a period before using a converter. 2. If you experience skipping with a converter, check the angle of your grip. Ensure both iridium points are simultaneously touching the paper; avoid writing on one side only. If skipping persists, check the nib for any trapped paper fibers or debris. 3. Remove the converter and try filling the pen directly by pressing the nib into the ink. 4. Wash the nib thoroughly. If one iridium point is consistently lower than the other, or if excessive pressure is applied, it can lead to misalignment of the iridium points, causing scratching and paper debris accumulation in the nib slit. 5. Calligraphy nibs are adjusted from EF nibs to create an arched tip. Thickness variation is achieved not by pressing down, but by the angle of your grip, utilizing the nib's curvature at the tip to vary line width. Holding the pen more upright reduces the contact area with the paper, resulting in finer lines. The more you tilt the pen, the larger the contact area, producing thicker lines.
