Speaking of Kinmen, beyond the associations with sorghum and knives,
"landmines" represent a historical chapter that the world should be remembered.

On the island of Kinmen, Lieyu, there are 3 fortress;
the Warrior’s Fortress occupies the most expansive area.
Accessed via a small bridge over a three-meter-deep trench and gradual slope,
its camouflaged entrance with multiple checkpoints reflects the island's frontline tension.
The two-level fortress
has gun emplacements, command room, and sleeping quarters on the upper level.
The fortresses contains hundreds of meters of underground tunnels connecting major
subterranean military facilities. These passages link to the “Tie Han Fortresses”,
now a mine exhibition museum, allowing visitors to traverse and experience
Kinmen's 20th-century wartime landscape.

Warrior's Fortress
1949-The “Warrior's Fortress” was built by ROC army, it was not a large scale at that time
1971- At that time, Ma Anlan, commander of the Kinmen Defense Department, rebuilt the 48th Highland, dug chariot trenches, and added fire point defenses to achieve the highest combat
goal of “compact but strong fortification”, “capable of independent defense”,
and “comprehensive enemy containment”. At the entrance of the Warriors' Fortress,
there is a military slogan that reads “Completely annihilate the enemy within 200 meters",
which fully demonstrates the majestic fighting spirit.
1997: Significant military personnel reduction in Kinmen, leading to abandonment
2001: Military transferred Iron Fortress and Warrior Fortress to Liyu Township Office
2003: County government applied for renovation funds and commissioned renovation work,
architect Wang Boren conducted transformation and reuse planning
2010: Iron Fortress and Warrior Fortress officially opened to public; visitor routes intersect
underground and above-ground sections, maintained military historical spirit
2013: Connected tunnels included in tourism flagship project
2014: Completed mine-themed exhibition area
"No War Debris, Only Flowers of Hope" - Towards a Mine-Free Island

**Towards the Ultimate Goal of a "Mine-Free Island"**
Kinmen originally had at least 204 minefield areas. The military began clearing mine dumps in Kinmen Township in 1997, and by 2006, they had cleared and processed over 80,000 mines.
In April 2007, the Army established the Kinmen Demining Battalion, adopting both
"commercial demining" and "self-conducted demining" methods to address the remaining 154
locations, covering a total area of over 3.06 million square meters. They conducted intensive
demining operations, completing the entire process by October 2012, during which they
removed 81,822 mines.
Afterward, to ensure the thoroughness of their efforts, the military continuously employed a
"grid method" to divide Kinmen and its islands into sections, conducting comprehensive surveys and removal of scattered mines. By May 31, 2013, the entire area completely cleared.
**Landmines and War? It Seems So Far Away from Us...**
In fact, in post-war regions, many landmines remain buried underground. Local inhabitants
often lose a leg or both hands in an instant by accidentally
stepping on these hidden explosives.
According to United Nations estimates, every 26 minutes, one person on Earth dies or
becomes disabled due to landmines. In 2012 alone, over 3,000 people were injured or killed by landmine accidents, with a staggering 90% of victims being children, the elderly, women, and
other vulnerable populations. The rehabilitation of these unfortunate victims and the cleanup
of remaining minefield areas continue to be critical social issues that cannot be overlooked!
"No Winner in War, No Loser in Peace"
War leaves everyone wounded, with landmines particularly devastating for local communities.
Transforming symbols of war into tools of remembrance and hope,
these landmine-shaped magnets turns a destructive artifact into a thoughtful
desk accessory that reminds us of the importance of peace, and hope for a future
where the entire planet is free from these deadly remnants.

※Eco-Friendly※
Transforming aerospace metal offcuts into unique design pieces.
These remnants are not of inferior quality, but rather small pieces unsuitable for large-scale part production. Typically, such leftover materials would be recycled by melting—a process that is
energy-intensive and environmentally unfriendly.
Metal Arts approaches design with a sustainable, eco-conscious concept. By repurposing these metal offcuts and preserving their original machining marks and holes, we transform materials
destined for remelting into unique products. Each piece carries its own distinctive character,
imbued with creative meaning and given a new lease on life!
Our mission: Upcycle, reimagine, and breathe new purpose into what would otherwise be
discarded.
