Therefore, __regularly cleansing your crystals is important__. It's recommended to establish a routine for cleansing crystals, for example, on the 1st of each month, or during the full moon (15th day of the lunar calendar). There are many ways to cleanse crystals, with detailed explanations available in books and online. Perhaps the most frequently mentioned method is soaking in saltwater. However, some crystals and metals are delicate and can be damaged by salt or water, so Joyce personally doesn't recommend this method. If you have white/amethyst chips, a geode, or a cluster, you can place your pendulum inside or on top of them when not in use. Of course, the chips, geodes, and clusters used for cleansing also need regular purification, such as sun exposure or moonlight cleansing. Joyce finds __smudging to be the most effective method__! You can light palo santo, dried cedar leaves, dried sage leaves, or incense, and **use the smoke to cleanse**.
