Hydrangeas (aka Ajisai) It is currently the flower's peak season. I had been hesitant about revisiting hydrangea designs, as the sheer volume of petals often leaves my fingers aching—especially since my recent work with sweet pea flowers has already put quite a strain on my wrists. However, the other day, an 'angel' of a client inquired if I had any hydrangea jewelry available. I remembered my original design, which was taken home by a client before I even had the chance to photograph it. I dug through my archives to find that early prototype to use as a reference. Looking at those old, less-refined samples in the photos, I felt a bit embarrassed... but a new vision had already taken root in my mind. I had no choice but to sketch out these new ideas! I drew two variations, incorporating a miniature bow design I have been experimenting with recently, and sent them over with a bit of nervous anticipation. Thankfully, the client loved them! I combined the two original designs into a pair of asymmetrical long earrings. When the final piece was completed, I was truly struck by its beauty. If not for that client's faith in my work, this piece would never have come to life. To honor that trust, I could only respond with something equally beautiful. (Apologies to my fingers! My wrists, please hang in there just a little longer... -`д ́-) Finally, I spent a little extra time creating a small gift to accompany the piece, using fine floral chains to provide that sense of presence the client desired.
