During his travels in Armenia, Auguste Ponsot observed the local practice of burning benzoin resin to perfume and disinfect homes. Captivated by this traditional and eco-friendly method, he was inspired to introduce it to France. THE BIRTH OF PAPIER D’ARMENIE His associate, pharmacist Henri Rivier, later discovered that dissolving benzoin resin in 90% alcohol produced a lasting fragrance. Adding perfume created a delightful and enduring aromatic blend. The final touch was finding the right medium. Blotting paper proved ideal, absorbing the mixture while retaining the benzoin's natural scent and burning slowly without an open flame. A Century-Old French Family Business This historic home fragrance is crafted using traditional artisanal methods, akin to luxury goods. Producing the now-famous booklet requires six months and no fewer than twelve distinct steps. The Discovery Box contains 2 booklets of each variety, totaling 6 booklets. Each booklet has 12 pages, with 3 perfumed papers per page. How to Use: Gently tear off one perfumed paper. Fold it into an accordion shape and stand it upright on a heat-resistant surface. Light it and then blow out the flame to prevent ignition, as it is designed to burn slowly. Burn one strip at a time, 3 to 4 times a week. Never leave a burning incense stick unattended. Keep this product out of reach of children. Avoid inhaling the smoke directly.
