The glaze features a natural clay base, sprinkled with cream-colored crystals that create a distinctive visual effect. These elements have been combined to create this small, flower-rimmed dish. With its twelve petals, this small plate has a frill-like cuteness, while the marks from its creation lend it a simple, handmade charm. The lively crystals are beautifully complemented by the earthy tones of the clay, making it an excellent choice for simple ingredients and dishes. It is perfect for pickles, simmered burdock root, rolled omelets, cherry tomatoes, dressed side dishes, or stewed hijiki seaweed. All stages of production—from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing—are meticulously performed by hand in my home studio, equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses its own unique character, offering the distinct charm that comes from handmade artistry. I explore various glazes and clays, seeking harmonious combinations, and create a diverse range of pottery in various shapes and colors. For this reason, we treat all our dishes with a food-safe sealant to prevent water penetration, so no initial sealing (目止め - mezame) is required upon arrival. This sealing process takes 2-3 days, which is why we set the shipping period to 5 days from order placement. If you prefer not to have the sealant applied, please inform us at the time of purchase. ・We strive to capture product images that are as close to the actual item as possible through photography and editing.
