Flowing Amber Glaze Katakuchi Bowl

Fine-grained white clay that makes the glaze colors pop. A glaze that develops a calm, warm yellow, and a rich, delicious-looking amber glaze. These are combined to create this katakuchi bowl. The amber glaze applied to the rim of the bowl has flowed during firing, creating a beautiful, dynamic pattern. A katakuchi is a vessel with a pouring spout on one side, like a bowl or cup. This shape has been cherished in Japan since ancient times, used not only as a sake vessel but also for serving sauces and dressings. This particular katakuchi was created more for its decorative accent to the vessel rather than for a specific functional purpose. We hope you will enjoy using it for various dishes, such as simmered dishes, stir-fries, salads, or stews, without being limited by its katakuchi form. All processes, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are done by hand in my home studio, equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece has its own unique character, and you can enjoy the distinct charm that comes from being handmade. The item you receive will be the same as pictured. The base of the bowl has been sanded to minimize scratching your table. I create a variety of pottery, exploring different combinations of glazes and clays, in various colors and shapes. It's impossible to create exact replicas; these pieces are unique, though they may appear similar. I would be delighted if you find a piece that you love. For this reason, we apply a waterproof sealant to all our tableware before shipping, so there is no need for initial soaking (medome). The sealant process requires 2-3 days, which is why we set the shipping period to 5 days from order placement. If you do not wish for the waterproof treatment, please let us know at the time of purchase. - Cutlery shown in the product images is not included. - We strive to capture and edit product images to be as true to the actual product as possible, but please be aware that colors may appear differently depending on your monitor environment and lighting conditions. - As we also sell on other sites, in the rare event of overlapping purchases, the item will be delivered to the customer who completes the purchase process first.
