(Psalm 125:2) A century and a half ago, Reverend Mackay set foot on this remote island to bring the gospel to the Taiwanese people. His diary recounts an evening when he, his wife, and students were attacked by a group of hostile locals on their way to preach at a church. The angry crowd assaulted them, injuring a student and nearly blinding his wife. After narrowly escaping danger through a narrow alley, he calmly entered the church and preached on a verse from Psalms: From this time on, the Lord will protect those who believe in Him, just as mountains surround Jerusalem. This verse was later inscribed on Reverend Mackay's tombstone, a testament to his experiences of cross-cultural crises and challenges, as well as his profound experience of God's true protection.
