The actual product is the standard. ■ About Batteries Standard 'Carbon-Zinc Batteries' have a voltage of 1.5V, while 'Alkaline Batteries' have a voltage of 1.75V. This means low-power devices are not suited for high-power alkaline batteries. Clocks and alarm clocks are low-power devices and only require carbon-zinc batteries. Carbon-zinc and alkaline batteries look similar. Batteries marked "ALKALINE BATTERY" are alkaline batteries. Those marked "HEAVY DUTY" or without "ALKALINE BATTERY" are carbon-zinc batteries. Other types, such as Ni-MH or Lithium batteries, will be clearly labeled as such. ■ Carbon-zinc batteries have low power consumption.
