This coarse red clay allows you to enjoy the rough texture and warmth that is unique to ceramic clay. A matte white glaze with a warm color and texture, with slight yellowish and reddish hues. I created a rice bowl that combines these two elements. The mouth is accented with an underpainting called sabi. This is a large rice bowl that can hold plenty of rice. By using coarse clay, the texture of the clay can be felt, giving the vessel a warm, ceramic-like impression. The base is slightly smaller, giving it a neat appearance. It is also deep enough to hold moist rice dishes such as rice with raw egg on top and rice porridge. The rustic texture and atmosphere goes well with crops grown in the soil, and makes white rice, multigrain rice, and cooked rice look delicious. I use a small electric kiln and an electric potter's wheel at home to make my pottery, and I do all of the processes by hand, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing. The slightly rounded shape, rough texture, and slight weight give it a ceramic feel. Although we cannot mass-produce them, each one has its own unique expression, and you can enjoy the flavor that comes from being made by hand.
