They are deep green and densely covered with white, feather-like spines. The areoles, where the tubercles meet, have long white woolly hairs and about 40 radial spines, measuring 0.3-0.7 cm, which are grayish-white or white. Blooming in winter, its small white flowers have brown or red central stripes on the petals. It produces brown seeds and is pollinated by different plants. The White Star is generally an easy-to-care-for variety, but pay close attention to temperature and watering! | Soil | Soil mix for the White Star cactus is quite straightforward. The base uses perlite mixed with peat moss, with added vermiculite and granular cinders. The ratio is flexible, prioritizing aeration. The surface is covered with granular pumice. | Watering | This variety is not very tolerant of intense sunlight, and its roots are prone to rot. Therefore, the soil should be primarily airy and fast-draining. Water thoroughly when dry during the growth period. For mature plants, use water sparingly. Only water when the soil is completely dry. Water thoroughly; do not fear root rot by frequently giving half-measures or being too cautious with watering. Avoid pouring water directly from the top. Poor ventilation can lead to water accumulation at the growth point, causing rot. | Summer/Winter Care | The White Star cactus experiences a slight dormancy in summer. The plant requires light shade and good ventilation. From July to September, during high temperatures, maintain a cool, airy environment. From September to December, water only when dry.
