This is a postcard featuring the Shureimon gate of Shuri Castle in Okinawa. It can also be used for New Year's cards. Sold as a set of 3 postcards with the same design. The Hito-Karu-Tsuma-Kaza-Ri (ornamental gable decoration) on the main hall of Shuri Castle depicts dragon figures in the "A-gyo" and "Un-gyo" poses. In the Ryukyu Kingdom, dragons were symbols of the king, and thus numerous dragons are incorporated throughout Shuri Castle. A fire occurred in the early morning of October 31, 2019, tragically engulfing the main hall, the North hall, and the South hall. We pray for the swift restoration of this cherished landmark. These postcards can also be used for New Year's greetings.
