Pottery Brooch: Chestnut

Starting with a sketch, the clay is molded, dried slightly, and shaped repeatedly. We create enough pieces to fill the kiln evenly over about a month. Bisque firing takes 7 hours. After removing, we wipe them with water, apply glaze one by one, and then undergo a 12-hour firing. For some pieces, we apply a gold glaze and place them back in the kiln for another 7 hours. As they require slow cooling, we wait about 2 days after each firing before removing them from the kiln. Then, we select the best pieces by hand and attach the pin. Currently, the success rate is around 70%. Though it requires a significant amount of time and effort, the result is a decorative brooch that combines the tactile feel of earth, the strength of pottery, the luster of glaze, and the sparkle of gold accents. We believe it is an item that can be cherished for a long time, unchanging.
