Each creation possesses a unique concept and design, imbuing the pure hand-pinching or wheel-throwing process with life. Every piece is one-of-a-kind. Our pottery is a collaborative effort between my husband and I, hence the "Ping" or "Fan" signature. What is the wood-firing process?** American, Japanese, and Miaoli clays are mixed in different proportions. The process involves pure hand-pinching (not a pottery wheel) to gradually shape the piece. After basic forming, the body's lines are refined and then polished to complete the greenware. Once placed in the kiln, it undergoes a five-day, four-night continuous wood-firing process using natural longan and acacia wood. Temperatures reach over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the works, forming a unique ash glaze. Simultaneously, the flame patterns within the kiln flow among the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple flame marks. After five days and four nights of ash and flame interaction, a week of cooling is required before a piece reveals its exquisite form! What should discerning customers be aware of?** Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. As each piece is handmade, it will bear the subtle marks of the crafting process. Minor variations may also occur during firing, such as slight imperfections in the rim or small production scratches. These are normal characteristics and do not affect the usability of the piece.
