At the beginning of the class, the instructor will explain the structural principles of the candy box and guide students in drafting their own patterns. They will learn how to divide a circular pattern into six equal parts, understanding how a three-dimensional shape is constructed from a flat pattern. This ensures students don't just follow instructions but truly grasp the underlying structural logic.
Next, the course moves into material preparation and fusing instruction, covering the pairing and appropriate use of outer fabric, light fusible interfacing, heavy fusible interfacing, and batting. The instructor will demonstrate proper fusing methods and cooling techniques to ensure the finished product is stable, retains its shape, and is resistant to deformation. Students will also learn about often-overlooked yet crucial details, such as using a marble slab for cooling after fusing and trimming seam allowances to 0.5 cm. These key steps directly influence the finished item's three-dimensionality and refinement.
