However, like silver, brass can oxidize, and its color may deepen due to exposure to rain, sweat, and air. While some appreciate this natural patina, to maintain its original luster: ♦ Avoid contact with water. ♦ Store in a resealable bag when not wearing. If the luster appears dull, here are simple methods to restore your item's original shine. Please note that while color can be restored after wear, the original shine may not be fully recovered (the matte, antique bronze finish of vintage pieces is also beautiful!). ♦ Use a toothbrush with a small amount of foaming toothpaste or tooth powder and brush gently, similar to brushing teeth, to restore brass luster. Ensure to dry thoroughly afterward. ♦ Wipe with a silver polishing cloth for a quick shine (not suitable for brushed finishes). ♦ Dilute lemon juice, soak the brass item for approximately 5 minutes to quickly restore shine (not suitable for natural stones like pearls that are sensitive to acid).
