Asian Persimmon Wood, also known as Ivory Tree or Ivory Persimmon. It was an endemic species to Taiwan before 1870. Listed as Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). An evergreen plant. The trunk of the Ivory Persimmon is black and grows slowly. Even a century-old, ground-planted Ivory Wood tree’s trunk is only slightly thicker than an arm. It is hard, dense, and polishes to a sheen. Also known as Gaboon Ebony, a superior and precious wood. This is a one-of-a-kind piece.
