Pekanbaru is located in the capital of Riau Province on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It used to be a quiet small dock on the Siyak River and is famous for its high-quality agarwood. In ancient times, Pekanbaru’s agarwood was famous, and its quality was comparable to famous production areas such as Nha Trang and Hoi An. However, with the development of modern commerce, over-harvesting and environmental damage, Pekanbaru’s agarwood resources have been significantly reduced.
