Xiao Yi is a young adult with moderate intellectual disabilities at Maria Social Welfare Foundation, where she typically tends to plants in the vocational training group. Due to a difficult birth, doctors used forceps, which caused damage to her cerebral cortex, resulting in developmental delays and epilepsy. However, her mother and grandmother never gave up on her. From a young age, they encouraged her to learn pottery and painting, hoping she could express her feelings through art. Xiao Yi began painting at a very young age, but her work was always quite rigid. It wasn't until Ms. Shu Zhi, an art volunteer at Maria, began chatting with her, getting to know Xiao Yi's inner world, and guiding her to paint from her imagination, that things changed. Upon opening the teacher's notebook, one finds it filled with records of Xiao Yi's joys and troubles, big and small. Xiao Yi's artwork began to showcase "Xiao Yi's style," leading to numerous awards and recognitions. Moreover, her emotional state has become more stable; the Xiao Yi who used to get angry easily is now always smiling! "Everyone needs to be understood."
