DAPENG BAY: 3952 Old Goat - Named after a renowned Taiwanese landmark, this is a special edition for grand writing. The pen barrel is made of meticulously selected ebony wood, crafted from natural wood with a special process, resulting in a dazzling, high-definition, high-gloss surface finish. The high-definition, high-gloss technique involves repeatedly applying transparent lacquer and polishing until the pores formed over the years in the wood grain surface are filled with lacquer, requiring dozens of cycles of lacquering and polishing. This method creates a smoother surface, enhancing the writing feel and making the exquisite wood grain appear more three-dimensional and distinct. It also makes the surface easier to maintain, protecting the wooden barrel from accidental ink stains. However, this process incurs higher costs. Both the high-definition, high-gloss and standard finishes offer unique charm, catering to different tastes. Old Goat Fountain Pens sincerely offers this collection with gratitude for your support. The high-definition, high-gloss finish resembles the luster of premium wood trim inside a luxury car, so polished it's mirror-like, offering a uniquely substantial feel. Most pens on the market are simply polished or waxed after turning; such labor-intensive treatments are exceptionally rare (natural grain, premium quality, randomly selected). The pen is equipped with original brass-turned accessories, finished with grey chrome plating. It features a twist-action, airtight cap and a specially designed flexible clip.
This model is available with two nib options: the Standard Calligraphy Titanium Tip and the Special Calligraphy Titanium Tip.
The Standard Calligraphy Titanium Tip utilizes a German Bock #250 (#6) standard titanium nib, handcrafted and adjusted by Old Goat artisans to produce calligraphy line variation, akin to a brush pen's character, offering a distinct writing feel with more elasticity than standard steel nibs.
The Old Goat Special Calligraphy Titanium Tip (ground and adjusted from an EF nib) is a custom nib specially requested from the German manufacturer, model #250 (#6). It is then handcrafted and adjusted by Old Goat artisans to achieve calligraphy line variation, producing a unique brush-like character. Compared to the standard version, this special tip offers greater elasticity, allowing for richer strokes. The nib is engraved with the 3952 Jade Mountain distinctive logo, making it a worthy collectible. (This nib, possessing optimal elasticity, may be more challenging for beginners; it's recommended for pen enthusiasts who have experience with calligraphy steel nibs or standard calligraphy titanium nibs as an advanced option.)
**Gift Set Includes: German SCHMIDT K2 converter (ink not included) + a handmade black genuine leather pen sleeve by a Taiwanese master craftsman (style shipped randomly) + 3952 Old Goat wooden pen box packaging.**
Fountain Pen Dimensions: Total length approx. 150mm, barrel plus grip section approx. 105mm, maximum diameter (excluding clip) approx. 14.5mm, total weight (excluding nib) approx. 53g.
Hand-ground and Adjusted Calligraphy Nib:
1. For calligraphy nibs, it is recommended to first use dip-pen writing (do not remove the converter installed in the barrel; this prevents ink from flowing back into the pen body after writing) to allow the nib to adapt to its characteristics. After a period, then use the converter for refilling and writing.
2. The calligraphy nib is ground and adjusted from an EF nib to have a curved tip that produces line variation not solely by pressure, but by the angle of holding the pen, utilizing the nib's front curvature. Holding the pen more upright results in a smaller contact area between the nib and paper, producing finer lines. Holding the pen at a more oblique angle or applying slight pressure increases the contact area, producing thicker lines. The ability to write thick or thin depends on your dexterity (each nib has a certain tolerance for pressure; avoid excessive force to prevent nib damage or misalignment. It is advisable to place a writing pad under the paper when writing).
The Special Calligraphy Titanium Tip is a custom titanium nib requested by Old Goat from the German manufacturer, engraved with the 3952 Jade Mountain logo. Its tuning is softer and more elastic than standard titanium nibs, but it is less forgiving. The Special Calligraphy Titanium Tip's soft and elastic tuning can lead to ink flow interruption if pressure is applied incorrectly. However, its softness tempts users to press the nib, and if the user lacks skill or familiarity with its tuning, it can cause a temporary separation between the nib and the feed, leading to ink starvation that cannot keep up with the writing speed, resulting in skipping. If the pen-holding angle deviates, combined with pressing the nib, it can distort the ink flow channel, causing uneven ink supply. Therefore, this model is more elastic and difficult to control. It is recommended to first gain proficiency with steel nibs or standard titanium nibs before advancing to the Special Calligraphy Titanium Tip.

Note: Regularly wipe and maintain the inside of the pen barrel and cap. When storing the pen, do not leave the nib pointing downwards for extended periods.
Warm Reminder: When writing, avoid pressing down or writing with the nib angled too far left or right (for right-handed users, it is recommended to hold the pen so the nib points towards the 10 or 11 o'clock position). This prevents accidental misalignment of the iridium point, which can cause scratching and ink skipping. The nib should be rinsed with clean water regularly to prevent ink clogging and maintain writing quality.
