There's a little story behind why we decided to represent this brand.
Towards the end of 2024, just before a scheduled business trip to Korea, a sudden curfew was announced. Fortunately, it was lifted just before our flight. After arriving safely in Korea, we unexpectedly found ourselves trapped in a subway car. Protesters were flooding the station, and we were pushed to the point where breathing was difficult and movement impossible, almost lifting us off our feet. In our minds, we kept asking, "What do we do? Will there be a stampede?" We constantly encouraged each other to stay calm, find ways to breathe, keep our heads up, and most importantly, stand firm to avoid falling. Thankfully, after a few stops, the dense crowd disembarked at Yeouido Station, and we were shaken to tears.
A few stops later, as we exited the subway, we unexpectedly stumbled upon Hyejin's exhibition. The cats' relaxed and contented postures instantly calmed the turbulent storm we had just experienced. Those of us who were dazed and frightened felt as if we had finally found solid ground again.
From the bottom of our hearts, we truly felt how wonderful it is to have cats in this world.
Hyejin's cat artworks are such a treasure.
And so, this unexpected representation came to be. 🤍

Hyejin's style beautifully merges modern sensibilities with traditional Korean techniques, created through slow, deliberate hand-painting.
We are deeply drawn to the nostalgic, retro feel in his works, reminiscent of the folk scroll paintings from Korea's Joseon Dynasty.

Each stroke meticulously outlines incredibly refined details, creating pieces that can be admired for a long time.
Creating art with traditional Korean crafts requires immense patience. The artist carefully applies layers of color, building up rich, saturated, and deep tones.
Even the smallest butterfly or grasshopper is depicted with delicate soul.

Each painting captures the cats as they share our space. The "unhurried" and "quietly companionable" presence of the cats conveys the artist's intended message.
Hyejin frequently holds solo exhibitions in Korea and has been creating art for over a decade.

Hyejin primarily uses his own cats as his subjects, portraying them as both mischievous and sharp-eyed, capturing their "fiercely cute" and individualistic personalities. There's a sense of conflict and harmony, a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary.
By incorporating contemporary styles and characters, he depicts the lives and thoughts of animals within traditional art.
He utilizes Hanji, a less common paper type in the market, and the meticulous Gongbi technique. This paper lends a gentle warmth to the overall palette, while the refined Gongbi lines ensure the artwork is detailed and exquisite.

This warm feeling and unique combination allow contemporary painting styles to blend seamlessly.
