The image shows its sun-kissed reddish hue. As we ship randomly, not every plant will necessarily be this red. Increasing sunlight exposure can help achieve this color! Aporocactus flagelliformis, an epiphytic succulent from the Cactaceae family, can climb branches or other objects, growing pendant or vertically. Its stems are cylindrical, resembling weeping willow branches, earning it the name "Green Willow." It can produce yellow flowers. Although considered an uncommon succulent, many enthusiasts cultivate it to be exceptionally charming. 【Light and Temperature】 Aporocactus flagelliformis thrives in ample sunlight. It can be placed outdoors in summer, but ensure it receives some shading. In winter, bring it indoors to a sunny spot, with 4-6 hours of sunlight daily being ideal. The optimal growth temperature is between 20-30°C. During winter, it enters dormancy, requiring temperatures above 5°C. In summer, when the air is hot and dry, it benefits from regular misting to increase humidity. 【Watering and Fertilizing】 Aporocactus flagelliformis does not require excessive watering. Water thoroughly only when the soil is completely dry. Observe the plant; if it appears wilted or shriveled, replenish water promptly. It should return to its plump state after about one night. Fertilize with a compound fertilizer, diluted in water, once a month. However, reduce watering and fertilizing significantly in winter. 【Soil】 It prefers well-draining, sandy soil. You can use commercially available succulent mix or create your own by combining perlite, fine river sand, and base fertilizer in a 2:2:1 ratio. 【Pruning and Maintenance】 Aporocactus flagelliformis readily becomes bushy, necessitating timely pruning to maintain its aesthetics and airiness. Trim inward-growing branches or those obstructing clarity, encouraging outward growth for a more pendant, airy, and visually appealing form. Promptly remove any diseased or old branches to prevent impact on healthy ones. When pruning, retain the cut stems, as they are excellent for propagation and root easily.
