A bracelet crafted from three types of sacred relics.
1. The main bead is an incantation bead by Luang Por Deng, one of the nine revered monks of Thailand, featuring auspicious script for fortune transformation. This artifact was acquired on March 30, 2024, from a Taiwanese antique dealer who sources from Myanmar. It is not a recently produced version. Online research indicates that prior to 2021, a single bead was priced at NT$2,600.
2. Nine large Dharani beads, unearthed from a collapsed stupa in Mandalay, Myanmar. Based on accompanying artifacts, these are estimated to be from the 18th-19th century. They are in the form of Dharani prayer beads with drilled holes. The material is a copper alloy containing gold, though not in high proportion. They have been cleaned of oxidation. While appearing bright yellow when photographed, they may naturally oxidize and darken over time without regular polishing. The largest beads have an average diameter of 1.1-1.2 cm. These prayer bead-style Dharani beads were typically part of a string of 108 beads placed within stupas. Due to the humid burial environment, original threads have long since decomposed. During the creation of Dharani beads, cinnabar was often smelted with the metal. Possessing a powerful magnetic field, they are believed to suppress malevolent spirits and entities, serving as potent protective, boundary-setting, and lucky amulets. They have also been used in consecration rituals and for establishing sacred spaces. Today, some individuals use them for spiritual practice, meditation, placing them in home altars or vehicles to enhance auspicious energy and feng shui.
3. Eight saucer beads (abacus beads). These are commonly found unearthed beads from Thailand and Myanmar. Their shape resembles a flying saucer (UFO) or an abacus bead. Collectors refer to them as "saucer beads" or "abacus beads." The material is chalcedony, with a dense stone quality. Industry professionals believe it to be "Cui Si" material. Ancient inlay techniques meant that colors did not penetrate deeply into the beads. Additionally, burial, blackening, and ionic processes have caused fading and discoloration, resulting in a variegated appearance. Features such as crackled ice patterns, leather-like textures, color diffusion cracks, and earth erosion are characteristic of ancient buried beads.
