Hungarian artist Julius Komjati etching - Man in Hat 1929

Artist introduction_ Julius Komjati, the son of an inspector, was born in Hungary. In 1911 he received a teaching diploma in Budapest and in 1914 entered the Academy of Fine Arts. During the First World War he was drafted into the army, upon his return he was awarded the Academy's diploma of professor of design and in 1920 he produced his first etching of work. In 1927, Komjáti received a scholarship to study with Malcolm Osborne at the Royal College of Art, arriving in England in 1928. He spent the next ten years in England, during which time he produced a series of superb works, some 74 etchings, published by HC Dickens in London. His work was so highly regarded that he became one of the few foreign artists elected to the Royal Society of Painters and Printmakers. _Product information Author: Julius Komjati (1894-1958).
