Kiriko glass made by independent Kiriko glass artist Saito Hikaru.
We learned the secret techniques of hand polishing at an Edo Kiriko workshop that was founded over 100 years ago, and even though we consider the productivity and profitability of the technique low, we value the tradition and want to deliver authentic Kiriko to our users, so we also value the technique of hand polishing.

I wanted to make a sake cup that was a little on the higher end, so I set about making it.
I wanted to create an interesting design using chrysanthemum connections with many cuts.
When thinking about the design of sake cups in the past, the design of the sides and the design of the bottom were considered separately.
However, I noticed that a sake cup does not have a clearly defined boundary between the sides and the bottom like a rocks glass or a tumbler.
We realized that even though it is shaped like a drink, its shape is more similar to a plate.
In our workshop, we also cut small bowls, and we began designing a sake cup with the idea in mind of expressing the "cut that connects the sides and bottom" that we use in those bowls.
I wasn't sure if I could express it, but I managed to achieve a cut on the side that makes a U shape, passing near the bottom and then returning to the side.
When you look at it from above, it feels more like you are looking at a cut of a plate, rather than a cut of a sake cup. I think we've created an interesting expression.
It is based on a traditional design, with the traditional chrysanthemum connection and hemp leaf motifs arranged facing each other.
However, the structure is not commonly used for sake cups, and it is an interesting piece that incorporates modern technological elements.
The chrysanthemums in the chrysanthemum chain represent longevity, good health, nobility, and integrity.
Hemp leaves also represent the wish for good health.
Both of these traditional patterns have positive meanings, so they are good not only for yourself, but also when given as gifts.
We hope you will consider purchasing this product for yourself, as a gift, or to improve your store's brand image.
