The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns “ For our 5th anniversary collection, we've used sunstone from the triclinic crystal family. Its name is fitting, with warm hues of orange-red hematite and goethite appearing granular or flaky within the stone, catching the light with striking brilliance. Yet, compared to the more widely favored golden sunstone, I chose the black sunstone—seemingly subdued, yet captivatingly mysterious. Its rare, eclipse-like quality reveals subtle streaks and a cat's eye phantom, reminiscent of a still lake rippled by a thousand gentle breezes. Holding these stones, I recalled a series of Symbolist paintings I'd traveled to see at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York many years ago: "Isle of the Dead" (by Arnold Böcklin, 1880). The version in New York's collection, coincidentally, was also completed by the artist during the height of summer in the late nineteenth century. ☞ Shipping Information THRIVE Apparel Co. is an independent design studio operating on a small-batch, ready-to-ship, and made-to-order basis.
