The interior glaze is Shino, originating from Mino, Japan, a white glaze primarily composed of feldspar. The artist, from yuhuayuart, applies a specially formulated Shino glaze to the vessel, resulting in a soft, warm, and richly layered finish after firing. The Shino glaze on the inner wall comes into direct contact with the tea, helping to soften the water and the mouthfeel of the tea. Artist | Teacher Yu Hua-Yu Born in 1980, he was deeply drawn to hand-thrown pottery during junior high school. After completing his military service, he moved to Yingge, where he studied under masters Wu Kuo-Jung and Wu Chien-Tsai, dedicating over twenty years to ceramic art. He has developed the Yohen Shino, Rock Mineral, and Purple Clay Cloud series, and successfully recreated the ceramic firing techniques of the Song Dynasty.
