For the past 17 years, our signature straw hats have been made from fabric spun by hand and then woven by hand. Due to the impact of COVID-19, production of the fabric was halted during a period of decreased demand for hats. As a result, the artisans who worked on it have moved on, and by the time the pandemic subsided, it became difficult to resume fabric production. We have been searching for alternative fabrics, but at present, there is no clear path forward. It is with great regret that we announce that with the current stock of fabric, we will be concluding the production of our straw hats. The cultivation area for flax itself is decreasing globally, making it a precious resource. We are deeply grateful to the artisans who secured and wove flax fibers specifically for kubomi. The exact discontinuation date depends on the number of orders received, but if you have been considering a purchase, please let your friends know and place your order to avoid missing out.
