For 17 years, we have been producing this classic straw hat using fabric made from hand-spun linen yarn and hand-woven finishing. During the period when demand for hats decreased due to the impact of COVID-19, fabric production was halted. This led to the artisans moving on to other work, and by the time the pandemic subsided, it became difficult to resume fabric production. We have been searching for alternative fabrics, but currently, there is no viable option. It is with great regret that we announce that this will be the last production run using our existing stock of fabric, and straw hat production will cease. The cultivation area for flax itself is also decreasing globally, making it a precious resource. We are very grateful to the artisans who secured and wove flax fibers specifically for kubomi. The discontinuation date for the hats depends on the number of orders, so it is difficult to predict.
