Antique FIX A60 French Cherub Thick Gold Plated Brooch

FIX is a classic French heritage brand with over a century of history. Due to its unique craftsmanship and materials (gold plating composition), the pieces bear a striking resemblance to real gold in color. Even after a hundred years, many items in our collection retain their original luster. The cherub motif is inspired by the painting Madonna di San Sisto, a representative work of the Italian artist Raphael, depicting the Virgin Mary. It was originally installed in the shrine of the Basilica of San Sisto, rebuilt in memory of Pope Sixtus I. The piece remained in the Basilica of San Sisto until 1574, hence its name. The last image, taken from a catalog published in 1911, suggests this brooch is over 100 years old. Material: Gold plated.
